Helena Mourning Frock

Pictured worn over 18th century stayspetticoat, and underdress.
Accessorized with a black lace fan.

This 18th-century-inspired frock is created from a textured holey wool fabric, backed with plain black cotton to created an aged, moth-eaten look. Three rows of hook-and-eye clasps bring the bodice together over a corset, and a black homespun cotton underskirt shows at the front through the 53 pleats of the overskirt. The sleeves feature an embroidered tulle, whose white rose pattern is also appliquéd to the neckline. The neckline and sleeves feature a black braid for added detail.
