Elegant Evening Gown

This dress was a plain (but lucky) op-shop find. It started as a plain burgundy dress of bodice, A-line skirt, and shoestring straps. To add some class and interest, I added a black embroidered tulle overskirt with scolloped edge. I also used the tulle for the off-the-shoulder sleeves. For the bodice, I sewed black ribbon down the seams to give it shape and added delicate gathered lace to the top and bottom. The back zips and laces up with draping burgundy and black ribbon. The off-the shoulder-sleeves and the front neckline are embellished with glass beads.

This is an example of the way old clothes can be revamped and given a 'new life'.
