18th Century Day Dress

Pictured worn over 18th century corset and burgundy underskirt.

This 18th-century-inspired dress is created from a brocade-print cotton. Thirteen buttons bring the bodice together over a corset, and a "wine" homespun cotton underskirt shows at the front through the 53 pleats of the overskirt. The sleeves feature a lining of cream lace-edged cheesecloth. The neckline features cream lace and a narrow ruffle in the brocade-print fabric. A small sewn-in tulle bustle gives extra shape to the back of the dress.
