Bess stays

Pictured with Bess chemise, petticoat and buckle shoes.

A historical reproduction of a 1700’s stay, or ‘corset’, it is made from a decadent cream silk brocade, lined with a cotton sateen, and edged with an apricot silk dupion. It features bronze eyelets at the back, and on the adjustable shoulder straps which tie with ribbon made from apricot silk dupion. These stays are designed to give a classic 1700’s silhouette; flatten and push up the bust, and create a dramatic triangular torso-waistline. The split ‘hem’ allows for numerous layers of petticoats.
