I have been shooting with Vanyanís since 2008. I met Lowana in a local fabric store when I was looking for materials and we have been creating beautiful imagery together since then.
I was born in 1960, and had my first darkroom at 16 years of age. My brother gave me my first camera, a Kodak Instamatic when I was 8. I bought an Olympus OM-1 in 1975 and since then I have worn out an OM-10, and an OM-4. My first digital was an Olympus E-300, and I now shoot on a Canon 5D. After studying painting, drawing, woodcraft and jewellery design, and a short artist in residency in Euroa, I graduated from Melbourne University in 1989. Melbourne University has two of my drawings in their collection. I taught art and design in high schools for four years then ran my own business making designer furniture and artist's requirements from 1994 to 2007. I began to exhibit my photography in 2004.
I’m currently undertaking a Master of Education using photography as my research method. I teach photography part-time at RMIT, Swinburne, Holmesglen and some community centres. I’ve been published in The Age, The Virgin Press and Fiend magazine.
I live and work in Melbourne, Australia.
